SCOOB

Directed by Tony Cervone

Stars Kiersey Clemons, Zac Efron, Will Forte, Jason Isaacs, Ken Jeong, Tracy Morgan, Gina Rodriguez, Amanda Seyfried, and Mark Wahlberg as the voice of Scooby-Doo

Philippine Release Date: May 14, 2020

Catch the gang of ‘Mystery Inc.!’ in Scoob, opens in theaters 2020

It’s the epic origin story our aunts and uncles must have been wanting to watch since the early 70s. In this first ever full-length animated Scooby-doo feature, we find some never-before told stories of Scooby Doo’s origins and the greatest mystery in the career of Mystery Inc.

From that description alone, I’d probably be as excited with this than the sequels to the 2002 live action film.

For you much younger readers, SCOOB is based on the long-running Hanna Barbera animated television series Scooby Doo-Where Are You?  which essentially completed my Saturday mornings as a child engrossed in Cable TV. Check out the trailer below:

“SCOOB” is distributed in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, a WarnerMedia Company.

THE INVISIBLE MAN

Directed by Leigh Whannell

What you can’t see can hurt you. Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss (Us, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale) stars in The Invisible Man, a terrifying modern tale of obsession inspired by Universal’s classic monster character.
What you can’t see can hurt you. Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss (Us, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale) stars in The Invisible Man, a terrifying modern tale of obsession inspired by Universal’s classic monster character.

A loose adaptation of H.G. Wells’ sci-fi novel of the same name, The Invisible Man is far from the black and white classic that made Claude Rains a household name in the US back in 1933. This 2020, Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum produces this version written and directed by Leigh Whannell. Yup, the same guy responsible for those Saw and Insidious movies, hence the gloom psychotic thrill the trailer presents below:

Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer, NBC’s The InBetween), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge, Straight Outta Compton) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid, HBO’s Euphoria).

But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

CHARLIE’S ANGELS

Directed by Elizabeth Banks

Starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, Noah Centineo, and Sam Claflin

Philippine Release Date: November 12, 2019

Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scot, and Ella Balinska star in Charlie’s Angels.

In this era of the #MeToo movement, somebody must’ve thought of creating yet another reboot of this iconic women investigators out to save their boss Charlie’s new client. I must admit, the ladies have evolved since the 70s, aside from donning skimpy outfits to kicking butts in the early noughts and even a series has come out of it again (RIP to it, too), my only worry about the film is it’s burgeoning soundtrack which I can get out of my head, and I hope that that’s the only worry I’ll be having.

Here’s a quick synopsis:

In this movie, we meet Elena Houghlin (Naomi Scott), a brilliant scientist and engineer who has created Calisto, a sustainable energy source designed to revolutionize the way we power things. When her bosses rush her invention to market, she warns them there is a flaw in the system: in the wrong hands, it can be used as a deadly weapon. Unfortunately, her bosses turn out to be The Wrong Hands, so Elena turns to The Townsend Agency for help. A contemporary whistleblower story worthy of the 21st Century Angels, Elena’s fight for justice ignites a globe-trotting adventure to get the device back before something terrible happens.

The film opens TODAY in cinemas nationwide.
