Teaser trailer for Netflix’s first original film ‘Beasts of No Nation’

Netflix’s announcement of branching into original movies to be released simultaneously in theaters and through online streaming was groundbreaking albeit controversial. Four of the largest theaters in the US – AMC, Regal, Carmike, and Cinemark – announced that they will boycott all films that will receive from the same treatment from the streaming giant, stating the early availability of movies at home would just do harm to their businesses.

Netflix remains unfazed though as they push through with their plans starting with the adaptation of Uzodinma Iweala‘s african war drama, Beasts of No Nation, this October. Directed by True Detective‘s sorely missed Cary Fukunaga, the film tells the story of a young boy named Agu (Abraham Attah) who is forced to become a child solider after the brutal murder of his parents. Idris Elba plays the warlord who takes Agu under his wing, and molds him into a fierce killer.

Warning though, the trailer is a bit harrowing, showing Agu as he is encouraged by Elba’s character to commit his first murder. The scene looks to be a very powerful moment in the movie as it focuses on the hesitation that accompanies a hitherto innocent child’s decision for revenge.
