Isabelle Huppert in a Paul Verhoven film, Don Cheadle playing on O.G. jazz musician, and Robert Egger’s The Witch being destabilizingly terrifying up to the final bits of its promotion. Here’s a roundup of trailers you might have missed this week.

Green Room
A24 has teased its audience enough about Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room. Here’s what we know so far: it’s the follow-up to the tremendously undervalued Blue Room; it has a terrific lineup of young thesps locked in and tortured in a green room; and Patrick Stewart is obviously key to this torment. In the new red-band trailer, a load of new footage of menace unfolds to Mourning Ritual’s haunting cover of Creedence Clearwater’s “Bad Moon Rising”. Take a look:
The Witch
No word as yet regarding a Philippine release of The Witch, but I know of one film distributor who currently owns the title rights to it. Hoping it’s close to the February 19 release date if at all. There isn’t much fans can do meanwhile, except eagerly consume as much promotional material one can. Speaking of, here’s a final-final trailer for the film, ironically titled “Peek-a-boo”:
Elle
A trailer for Paul Verhoven’s thriller Elle debuted online last week, featuring an unusually distressed Isabelle Hupert whose character is a victim of rape and molestation. There’s a quiet intensity and unnerve about the whole thing that rams your guard each time Hupert lights the frame. It looks promising and gorgeous and mental–I’m in.
Miles Ahead
Don Cheadle. Jazz music. Gangster arc. All there is to know.

Always Be My Maybe
Dan Villegas directs Always Be My Maybe, a rom-com about a beauty guru (Arci Munoz) who teaches her subscribers make-up as the true metaphor of a woman’s life. It doesn’t sound progressive at all, but we’ll leave the verdict out ‘till February 24 when it comes out in theaters nationwide. Check out the quirky teaser below.
Take Me To The River
Been hearing good stuff about this indie that echoes the same vibe as Haneke’s Funny Games, but with more backwoods America idyll. Throws you in all sorts of situations in under two minutes and still makes you want to watch it. Filing this under “watch at first opportunity” folder.
Son Of Saul
This U.K. version of the trailer for Son Of Saul isn’t too different at all from the ones you’ve played three hundred times. There’s only particular difference in this one with sound and music, which are devices used in presenting very briefly the crises told in the Oscar-nominated foreign film. Add this to the list of promotional materials you’ll drool over until late-April when it comes out the 29th.
Demolition
Same trailer as before, but with more Naomi Watts. Same excitement as before, but with more Naomi Watts. Check it out:
