The music video featuring KathNiel for “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay” is giving us some cinematic chills, too!
Hi. Princess Kinoc here. Editor-in-chief for Film Police Reviews. I have a confession to make, I’ve never been a fan of KathNiel.
But wait! Before you all KathNiel fans throw stones at me, I’d like to tell you that there are other things I’m not a fan of, but people can change and tastes can change too. One of which happens to be my encounter of Ben&Ben’s latest music video while browsing through the YouTube app on my phone.
Now with over 2million views and counting, the music video features Kathryn Bernardo and her on and off-screen partner, Daniel Padilla, walking on the beach as Daniel recites a brief poem in the background about a dream.
Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay (In Another Lifetime) is the first track in Ben and Ben’s latest non-studio album single released alongside other tracks like “Doors”, “Lifetime”, “Nakikinig Ka Ba Sa Akin” and “Di Ka Sayang”. The track details the perils and joys of having to experience love in its mature and truest form, in a seemingly far, but wonderful eternity with someone.
In a generation that has seen many failed relationships, the song brings to light what KathNiel must also seem to be in an industry that has seen many failed relationships. Theirs seem to be a longstanding love team, although one that has also been equipped with a few slew of controversy (of having to have broken up at one point) although the two have shrugged the idea altogether.
The music video appears to be yet another collaboration with the band and it’s “resident” director Joren Lising with whom they’ve made the music video for “Pagtingin” which featured another off-screen couple (and was also the promotional video for the film LSS), Gabby Garcia and Khalil Ramos. The MV for Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay also employs spoken word poet Juan Miguel Severo, who wrote the screenplay for the video. He also discusses the messaging of the music video here.
In a series of montages of what appears to be contrasting happiness and sadness, KathNiel delivers a affecting depiction of a deteriorating love. Watch it again here:
