This just in: Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz headline an epic written and directed by Lav Diaz called Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis (working title). The film is currently in production at Lake Bulusan, Sorsogon. Not much is revealed about the project, except that it is “a sorrowful mystery that marries Literature (the missing chapters of El Filibusterismo), Mythology (“tikbalangs”), and History (Oryang’s 30-day search for the lost body of Andres Bonifacio).”
The film boasts a huge cast: Alessandra de Rossi, Sid Lucero, Cherie Gil, Angel Aquino, Bernardo Bernardo, Ronnie Lazaro, Nonie Buencamino, Susan Africa, Joel Saracho, Moira Lang, Matt Daclan, Paul Jake Paule, Ely Buendia, Hazel Orencio (to name a few). Joel Torre and Binibini Gandanghari are as-yet unconfirmed but their names are already being attached to the project.
