The Directors’ Fortnight 2019 lineup has been revealed. As announced on Tuesday, interesting titles coming from anticipated directors like Takashi Miike, Robert Eggers and Lav Diaz are inclusive of this non-competitive film showcase.
Lav Diaz’s Ang Hupa (or The Halt) joins this year’s roster of films and is just one of the three films from Asia. The other two are Miike’s Hatsukoi (First Love), and Johnny Ma’s Huo Zhe Chang Zhe (To Live to Sing).
The Halt is produced under Pascual’s production circuit, Spring Films and so far there hasn’t been any trailers presented yet except for this poster:

Written, directed, and edited by Lav Diaz, this would be his second collaboration with Shaina Magdayao and his third with Pascual after 2018’s Season of the Devil (Ang Panahon ng Halimaw). It would be noted that Pascual had first worked with Diaz on Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis in 2016.
The Quinzaine des Réalisateurs has featured stellar works from notable directors in the past since 1969, celebrating it’s 21st year. Filmmakers such as Spike Lee and Jim Jarmusch are among its notable alumni. Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash was also featured in the showcase in 2014.
Cannes Directors’ Fortnight/ Quinzaine des Réalisateurs runs in May 15-25.
