Intramuros to host 57 Shorts in ‘Cinema Rehiyon Reloaded 2015’

Cinema Rehiyon Reloaded is back to showcase 57 short films from different regions in the country to be held in Manila on October 12- 13 at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Auditorium and at the Teatro in Fort Santiago, Intramuros.

Cinema Rehiyon Reloaded is a project initiated by the Cinema Committee of NCCA, in cooperation with UPLB Foundation Inc., and pelikuLAB, kicks off in Intramuros as it is soon to conduct several legs in Luzon provinces, such as Baguio, Pangasinan, Tuguegarao, Zambales, and Sorsogon.

With the support of the Intramuros Administration and the Ilustrados, an Intramuros-based arts and culture organization, the event features short films produced in different provinces and cities outside Metro Manila, such as Pampanga, Pangasinan, Laguna, Batangas, Naga, Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and many others.

The festival is open to all students, faculty, professionals, tourists, and moviegoers, as all screenings are free of charge which include a free pass to the historical sites of Fort Santiago.

“It’s going to be a grand movie marathon for everyone, especially for the film enthusiasts in the metro,” said Madz Garcia, Project Coordinator of the two-day film showing event.

Short film programs will run from 10am to 5pm in both venues. The wide variety of short films tackles on different regions’ social, cultural, and historical milieu such as the Mindanao conflict, indigenous peoples, disaster, environment, children’s welfare, women issues, LGBT, human rights, among others.

Cinema Rehiyon Reloaded aims to expose the audience to the diverse culture of our country through films from different regions. It hopes to create a wider venue for the harvest of regional films from the 7th year of Cinema Rehiyon film festival held in Cebu last August 2015.
