Ahoy! Mark your calendars and scrap anything you know about stoner films. Because the first and reportedly one of the best Filipino stoner films is back in Manila! I hate to say I told you so, because there are gems in student films. SUPERPSYCHOCEBU is a perfect example.
In Ara Chawdhury’s 2016 article of the film, Christian Linaban’s second feature films casts newly graduate film students, all living in a house called “House Gwapo”. Although it was unintentionally made during the time that the war against drugs erupted across the country, the title was a word vomit between Chris and Nicolo Manreal when they were college slackers [sic].
The film comes back to Manila with a special Q&A session with Linaban himself this Black Saturday, 04/20 at the UPFI Videotheque. There will also be screenings held in Visayas and Mindanao. Here’s the complete list of schedules so fire away!
