In this time of pandemic, there’s nothing more apt than content that can capture some ideas of how the otherside of the world is doing. Channel Chenes has been active for years now, and has just released what might be its final short film. Hopefully it isn’t.
We’re sure there are a number of film pages out there, wanting to be seen, wanting to be felt, and whose content is wanting to be consumed by anyone that deserves it. In this feature, we’d love to showcase some of the best content this page has to offer, so all you have to do is visit the links we present below.
Channel Chenes will remind you of short frenchies that are brimmed with that European touch. It’s curator, Rob Villarcabral was a student in Spain studying culinary when he decided to shoot films with his friends. Below are some of the content you might want to try watching on any given time now.
- THE WORLD IS A HANDKERCHIEF / EL MUNDO ES UN PAÑUELO (2021)
Have you ever had that feeling when you bump into a friend on a street and then things turn awkward it’s hard to bid farewell? Check out this 5-minute short where things could have been au revoir but then it didn’t. Or perhaps it shouldn’t?
2. IN A LILAC DREAM (Parts 1 to 8)
This one features the first of an 8-part series of visual shorts shot in black and white, featuring a main character that almost has that Chaplinesque vibe to it, set in modern times.
3. AWKWARD RECALL (2018)
We’ve probably been here before. What exactly do you do when you forget your friend’s name, without being offensive?
4. JAM (2014)
This could be an easy favorite, reminiscent of early 90s to 00s music videos which involves, well, jam.
5. IN A LILAC DREAM (PART 7)
Oh the despair! In part 7, the fellow succumbs to a life filled with vices until he finally regains the courage to redeem his life. Sort of.
