Sony has just released the new trailer of Sam Mendes‘ second Bond film, Spectre.
While the first teaser served as a sneak peek, showing us flashes of action and subtle plot hints, including the information that Bond (Daniel Craig) has some connection to the criminal organization, Spectre; this new trailer, dives right in giving a clearer picture of the story and more fanserving footage for us to chew on. We see new gadgets, such as a tricked-out ride, and even some hacking courtesy of Q (Ben Whishaw). And continuing Mendes’ intention of bringing certain aspects of the classic Bond back (e.g. M, Q, Moneypenny, a disfigured villain, etc), we also get a glimpse of traditional Bond-isms such as the brute of a henchman, Mr. Hinx (Dave Batista) in action.
It will be interesting to see how Sam Mendes will continue shaping his interpretation of James Bond. As what he did in Skyfall, Mendes’ Bond movies seem to be more set on forming the famed spy’s backstory. If Skyfall provided us some info on Bond’s childhood, it looks like Spectre will be giving us a glimpse of who Bond was before he became a spy. Of course, also a big takeaway is how Christoph Waltz’ character fits into all this, especially since in the trailer he claims to be the architect of all Bond’s pain in life.

Here’s the synopsis:
A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.
Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.
As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.
