Ramona Diaz’s Sundance documentary, A Thousand Cuts, documents the struggles of Rappler and its CEO, Maria Ressa in the context of the 2019 midterm elections. Streamed for free to Filipinos in the wake of Independence Day, the film’s meaning has now changed in the light of Ressa’s guilty verdict.
